Borghi s.p.a. of Castelfranco Emilia, Italy made a big impression on the visitors of INTERBRUSH 2008 held this past April in Freiburg, Germany. All the Borghi machinery on display was completely new and did not exist from the last INTERBRUSH exhibition in 2004. In addition to the all-new technology, Borghi unveiled their new logo to the world on the first day of the IB show. For many in the Industry that had been receiving information from an unknown company that promoted IB 2008 and included the phrase, "BE A STAR" - it was finally revealed that Borghi was responsible for the "BE A STAR" advertising campaign. With the newest generation of Borghi drilling and filling machines being the STAR line of equipment, some of the IB visitors had already understood that BE A STAR came from Borghi.
Immediately following the Freiburg show, Borghi s.p.a. had an open house at their headquarters in Castelfranco Emilia on April 20th, where over 300 visitors and over 100 Borghi employees were in attendance for this grand event to celebrate Borghi's 60th Anniversary.
The many product lines made by Borghi are:
* Staple-Set/Anchor-Set brush manufacturing machines of all types
* Trimmers, Flaggers and Finishing machinery for brooms and brushes
* Twisted-In-Wire brush manufacturing machinery
* Strip Brush manufacturing machinery
* Mop manufacturing machinery
* Injection Molds
* Specialty machinery for automation, packaging, etc. of brooms, brushes and mops
Borghi is know throughout the world as a leader in staple-set and anchor-set brush manufacturing machinery, sometimes referred to in the Brush Industry as "drilling and filling" machinery. At IB 2008, Borghi showcased the following equipment:
 |
* STAR V2: Introduced at the 2005 ABMA, this is the most versatile and state-of-the-art, double head drill/fill machine ever made! With it's large range of bridges, the STAR V2 can produce most household brushes such as small dish brushes all the way up through larger, industrial or janitorial type products such as 36" Push Brooms and even 48" Concrete Smoothing Brushes.
* SMART V2: A cousin to the STAR V2, that was born in 2006, this model is a more economical choice with less features than it's STAR cousin. The SMART V2 has 4 axes of movement and is able to produce a large variety of brooms and brushes including radial and vertical tufting along the length of the brush without changing bridges (up to 24" overall length in one cycle), thus giving a good solution to the price versus features balance.
 |
* ARCHIMEDES: The technical brush manufacturer or "short-run" producer of brushes were amazed with this machines versatility and quick-change ability. This is definitely the most versatile machine ever made by Borghi!
* ECO TECH: For the first time in the history of the many Freiburg shows, which began in 1976, Borghi is the FIRST COMPANY ever to display a machine at the Freiburg Exhibition of Brush Machinery, running Silicone Carbide fibers in a staple-set machine. The ECO TECH was proof to the world that Borghi is a leader in technology for manufacturing products using very abrasive filaments. ECO TECH ran with DuPont Tynex(r) abrasive filament Diameter 60 mils = 1.52 mm; 80 grit, level, wax-coated producing a large Cylinder Brush with 2500 tufts in each brush.
 |
* STAR R32: The STAR R32 is a 5 axes machine that is very versatile, easy to change, and very productive three station turret drill/fill machine that is the future of manually loaded brush machinery! With 180ûby 180û of filling capability, this is the "do all" machine that everyone wants. Also, the loading and unloading station for the operator is completely away from the drilling and filling stations, rendering it completely safe for the operator during continuous work cycle.
* STAR R2: Its debut was at Interbrush 2008! The new generation, four station turret machine that is fully automatic and can produce brushes with 180ûby 180û of filling capability on radial items and 360û all around for cylindrical or semi-spherical items. Running over 1000 tufts per minute and having a 2 second index time, this machine makes a lot of brushes per hour!
 |
* STAR R32-400-CRP: Running 400 mm long fiber (15.75"), this model was born to make all kinds of brooms, but especially Large Angle Brooms with a 7.5" trim length! Running at an unbelievable speed of 380 RPM, this is the fastest speed that Borghi has ever seen any machine run that has the capability to fill 400 mm long fiber. With the fully automatic automation on this machine, index times are short, productivity is maximized and the machine practically runs itself! Labor cost as a percentage of the product cost is practically non-existent running this production work cell!
 |
* BS30: Metal Back, STRIP BRUSH manufacturing machine with fully automatic fiber loader for synthetic materials, the BS30 can run at a top speed of 30 meters per minute (100 feet per minute) while producing, trimming and fly-cutting the strip brushes. It also has the capability of trimming out "notches" in the strip brush. Furthermore, with a quick change-over, the BS30 can be fitted with a standard stock box with "arc" style picker to run all kinds of natural fibers as well as some metallic fibers.
* AB4-2TWIST: A completely revamped computer control and carriage motion control, the newest twisted-in-wire brush manufacturing machine from Borghi, the AB4-2TWIST, produces "cut end" two-wire twisted brushes. Shown at IB 2008, the machine ran plastic-coated stem wire along with a variety of fibers and trim diameters as well as shapes (cylinders, tapers, reverse tapers, etc.).
Other than machinery for broom and brush manufacturing, Borghi offers production solutions for mop manufacturing and various types of injection molds. Borghi not only provides the mold itself, but also helps with product design, prototyping, and testing the injection molds for plastic parts. Seeing the customer's need to continually renew their product designs and the time it takes between the various phases of engineering and development, Borghi is able to offer the best response to these needs. Many of the Borghi employees have decades of experience in mold manufacturing and injection molding, this, united with the investment in state-of-the art, specialized machinery to build and test the molds, gives the customer a strong partner in Borghi, allowing the customer to develop new ideas for injection molded products, in absolute privacy. Borghi goes a step further, were the customer's raw materials are used to thoroughly test the mold and verify the quality not only of the injection molding, but also on the brush manufacturing machinery.
Borghi is not just technology for brooms and brushes, but also for certain kinds of paint brushes and mops. With Borghi's engineering capacity and technology manufacturing strength, requests for automation have been met with the realization of machinery for special types of paint brushes and many types of mops.
Borghi also goes beyond just providing equipment to produce "the product"; they also provide specialty machinery to automate packaging and other requirements that a given product may have before it is completely finished and ready to go into the warehouse or out the door. Borghi's flexibility in offering custom solutions is what keeps their level of technology fresh and cutting-edge.
