Mop, Wash And Go: Mop Cleaning On Smallest Of Footprints

The world of contract cleaning is characterised by extreme wear and soiling on mops and cleaning cloths and by ever increasing standards of hygiene. With this in mind, Miele is offering a washer-extractor which can wash up to 54 mops, depending on their size and weight, both gently and hygienically in a single-stage process. The PW 5064 model complements the tried-and-tested series of Little Giants, offering a load capacity of 6.5 kg on a small footprint.
Alongside optimum cleaning results, gentle reprocessing of mops and cleaning cloths is extremely important. In the patented Miele honeycomb drum, laundry glides on a thin film of water created between the load and the drum body by the hexagonal relief pattern on the surface of the drum. The smaller, smooth holes in the walls of the drum also ensure that textiles are subjected to less wear and tear. This reduces 'hole penetration' caused by centrifugal force significantly, even at high spin speeds. As a result, mops and cloths can be used for much longer, thus saving costs.
New spin cycle: Dirty water removed before wash cycle starts
Additional perforations in the rear panel of the honeycomb drum ensure that coarse soil is reliably removed. Modified application technology with an altered wash rhythm applies to the wash cycle on mop washers. To optimise cleaning results, a special initial dewatering cycle has been added to spin dirt out of mops prior to the first water intake. This allows more fresh water to be taken in during the main wash cycle and ensures better cleaning results. A new dump valve with a streamlined design allows water to be discharged freely, preventing the build-up of fluff and debris which may otherwise cause blockages.
Reliable operation through intelligent, user-friendly special programmes
A contract cleaner's daily work requires dependable and easy-to-operate machines which support work processes and cut down on labour costs. Miele's user-friendly Novotronic L controls feature a single knob and are simple and intuitive to use. This caters for two main applications: Mop and cleaning cloth reprocessing. Further special programmes, for example washing newly purchased mops before first use, can be selected via the display.
Two standard programmes, a thermal disinfection programme (85¡C with a 15-minute holding time) and a chemo-thermal disinfection programme (60¡C/20 minutes) can be selected for mops. Further temperatures and holding times are also possible. Cleaning cloths are washed at 40¡C or 60¡C and can also be thermally or chemo-thermally disinfected. The disinfection programmes meet official German health legislation requirements - a pre-requisite for the use of this machine in care centres and retirement homes. To ensure thorough disinfection at all times, all disinfection parameters are continuously monitored.
A new adapter, patents pending, dispenses liquid agents via the detergent dispenser drawer directly into the machine and, at the same time, prevents cross-contamination. The PW 5064 washer-extractor enables the control of up to six dispenser pumps and informs users via the display when a canister containing detergent or disinfectant is empty. The 'Container empty' sensors for dispenser pumps together with the adapter for liquid dispensing ensure optimum process security.
Surface detergent or disinfectant added at end of wash process
Miele has developed an entirely machine-based reprocessing and proofing method for the fast turnaround of microfibre cloths used in surface disinfection. Patents have been applied for. The new process achieves considerable savings in terms of labour, water and chemicals. The cloths are washed, disinfected and moisturised for re-use with a surface detergent in one single cycle. Immediately after un-loading, mops and cloths are once again ready for use. Workers' skin does not come into contact with disinfectants and detergents.
This washer-extractor is available with a matching tumble dryer. If required, the tumble dryer can be stacked on top of the washer, the ideal solution in small rooms where space is at a premium.
